Thinning hair is one of the most common reasons people visit our downtown Barrie clinic. Two treatments come up again and again: PRP Hair Restoration and Mesotherapy. Both are minimally invasive, both are aimed at supporting the scalp and hair follicles, and both require patience. Here is how they differ.

How PRP works

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. We draw a small amount of your blood, spin it to concentrate the platelets, and inject the plasma into areas of thinning. Platelets carry growth factors that may support weakened follicles.

How mesotherapy works

Hair mesotherapy delivers a blend of vitamins, amino acids and other nourishing ingredients into the scalp with fine microinjections. It aims to improve the scalp environment and support healthier growth.

Which is right for you?

  • PRP often suits people with early to moderate thinning who want a treatment based on their own blood.
  • Mesotherapy suits people who prefer not to have blood drawn, or who want a nourishing approach that can complement other care.
  • Some clients alternate or combine both, depending on their assessment.

How many sessions?

Both treatments are usually done as a series, often three to six sessions spaced a few weeks apart, followed by maintenance. We will recommend a plan only after looking at your scalp and history.

What results are realistic?

Hair grows slowly, so changes are measured in months, not weeks. Many clients notice less shedding first, then improved density. Neither treatment works for everyone, and neither can restore follicles that are fully gone. Individual results vary.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

Both involve small injections in the scalp. Most people find the discomfort manageable.

Is there downtime?

Usually none. You can typically return to normal activities the same day.

Can I combine these with other hair treatments?

Often, yes. Bring a list of what you currently use to your free consultation.
