About Dark Spot Removal in Barrie

Most dark spots come from sun exposure over the years. Pigment absorbs the light energy from IPL or our Q-switched laser and is broken down; the spot usually darkens for a few days, then flakes off or fades as your skin renews.

Not every dark spot should be treated the same way. Melasma (hormone-related patches) can get worse with strong light, so it needs a gentler, step-by-step plan. Any spot that is new, changing, bleeding or irregular must be checked by a doctor before cosmetic treatment.

Who it's for

Dark Spot Removal at our Barrie clinic is often a good fit for:

  • Sun spots, age spots and freckles
  • Uneven tone on the face, hands, chest and arms
  • Dark marks left after acne or breakouts (assessment needed)
  • Anyone ready to protect results with daily sunscreen

It is not right for everyone. Pregnancy, certain medications, active skin infections and some medical conditions can mean we recommend waiting or choosing a different option. We review your health history at your consultation and will always tell you honestly if we think another treatment, or no treatment, is the better choice.

What to expect

We assess your spots and skin type first. You wear eye protection, and the treatment feels like quick warm snaps on the skin. Most sessions take 15 to 30 minutes.

We take time with your care. Our founder, Manochehr Samya Kalantari, RN, has more than 30 years in health care. He explains each step, answers your questions and talks through aftercare before you leave.

Results & downtime

Treated spots often darken for a few days, then fade over one to three weeks. Daily SPF is important to stop new spots forming. Individual results vary.

Downtime: Mild redness for a few hours. Spots may look darker before they fade. Avoid sun and tanning before and after treatment.

How many sessions?

One to three sessions for many sun spots; more for larger areas. Sessions are about four weeks apart. Your exact plan depends on your goals and how your skin responds, and we will adjust it as we go rather than sell you a package you do not need.

FAQ

Dark Spot Removal questions

How much does dark spot removal cost in Barrie?

It depends on the size and number of areas. Pricing is confirmed at your free consultation.

IPL or laser for dark spots?

IPL treats wider areas of sun damage and redness at once. Our Q-switched laser targets individual spots more precisely. We recommend what suits your skin.

Can you treat melasma?

Melasma is different from sun spots and can worsen with strong light. We assess it carefully and only use gentle, gradual approaches when suitable.

Is dark spot removal safe for darker skin?

Darker skin has a higher risk of new dark marks after light treatments. We assess your skin type and may suggest a test spot or a different plan.

Will the spots come back?

Treated spots usually stay faded, but new ones can form with sun exposure. Daily sunscreen helps protect your results.
