Acne scars form when deep breakouts damage the collagen under the skin. Common types are rolling scars (soft waves), boxcar scars (wider dips with sharp edges) and ice-pick scars (narrow, deep pits). Most people have a mix.
Microneedling creates tiny controlled channels that prompt your skin to build new collagen, which can help soften rolling and shallow scars. Adding PRP, made from a small sample of your own blood, may support healing. For deeper or more stubborn scars, CO2 fractional laser resurfaces the skin in fine columns for a stronger collagen response. Redness left behind after breakouts can also be treated with light-based treatments.
Who it's for
Acne Scar Treatment at our Barrie clinic is often a good fit for:
- Rolling, boxcar or shallow ice-pick acne scars
- Uneven texture and enlarged pores after acne
- Redness or dark marks left after breakouts
- Adults whose active acne is under control
It is not right for everyone. Pregnancy, certain medications, active skin infections and some medical conditions can mean we recommend waiting or choosing a different option. We review your health history at your consultation and will always tell you honestly if we think another treatment, or no treatment, is the better choice.
What to expect
We begin with a consultation to look at your scar types, skin tone and medical history. Numbing cream is applied before microneedling or laser. Treatment usually takes 45 to 90 minutes depending on the method.
We take time with your care. Our founder, Manochehr Samya Kalantari, RN, has more than 30 years in health care. He explains each step, answers your questions and talks through aftercare before you leave.
Results & downtime
Collagen builds slowly, so improvement shows gradually over three to six months. Scars usually soften and look shallower rather than disappearing completely. Individual results vary.
Downtime: Microneedling: one to three days of redness. CO2 fractional laser: about five to seven days of redness and peeling. We give you a full aftercare plan.
How many sessions?
Usually three to six sessions, four to six weeks apart, depending on the method and your scars. Your exact plan depends on your goals and how your skin responds, and we will adjust it as we go rather than sell you a package you do not need.

FAQ
Acne Scar Treatment questions
How much does acne scar treatment cost in Barrie?
It depends on your scar type and the treatments in your plan. Pricing is confirmed at your free consultation.
Can acne scars be removed completely?
Usually not completely. The goal is to soften scars and smooth texture so they are much less noticeable.
Microneedling or CO2 laser for acne scars?
Microneedling suits milder scars and has less downtime. CO2 fractional laser is stronger and suits deeper scars. Many plans use both.
Can I treat scars if I still get breakouts?
Active acne should be under control first. If you have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past six to twelve months, tell us before treatment.
Is acne scar treatment safe for darker skin?
Often yes, with the right settings. Darker skin has a higher risk of dark marks, so we choose methods carefully and may suggest skin preparation first.
